"BAHAAT" Museum "Broken Wings"

Visit to the "BAHAAT" Museum "Broken Wings" in Erembodegem, Belgium July 30th 2006

"BAHAAT" (Archaeology Team of the Belgian Aviation History Association) is a association for historical aerial history and wreckage of both military and civilian aviation.
Since 1996 a specialized archaeological team belongs to the association.

The main mission of the team is linked with finding traces off crashed aircraft of both world wars.
They localize the crash sites and recover the remains of the aircraft, in order to conserve and to document this special history. Preparations are always very important and involve lot of time of preparation, numerous requests and authorisations, that are not always crowned with success.

Our association was especially interested in how they work around this historical issue and their documentation. We were very much impressed by the exposition, as well as the restoration of those artefacts and their documentation. The conversations that followed the visit were of particular interest for our work.
