For 15 years, we have been associated not only historically but also trough friendship with the “Verein zur Pflege der Bergbautradition und des Besucherbergwerks Kamsdorf”, founded in 1994 (the mine you can visit today, opened to the public in 2001). At the end of our association year we went on a underground field trip again.
Professionally as well as historically well-versed, we were told everything worth knowing on a 3-hour excursion. Called “E Werk”, the underground area where the engines of the Me 262 for the “REIMAHG” were built was also part of our tour, which was crossed from time to time by a fast-moving mountain bike group. This, we were told, would be part of the underground experience.
We were very grateful for the guided tour and will also attend further meetings in the future.
