A day full of discoveries and living mining tradition on 20 December

On 20 December 2025, we organised a special guided tour with our friends at the Kamsdorf visitor mine, which attracted numerous participants from all over Thuringia. 

Over 90 mining enthusiasts, local history buffs and history lovers took the opportunity to experience the fascinating world of underground mining up close.

The tour offered visitors exclusive insights into the eventful history of mining in Kamsdorf. Under expert guidance, participants not only learned exciting facts about the origins and development of the mine, but also marvelled at original tunnels, tools and relics from centuries past. The impressive atmosphere underground brought the past to life and conveyed an authentic picture of the miners' hard working day.

Special thanks go to all the members of the Kamsdorf Association for the Preservation of Mining Tradition, who contributed to the success of this unforgettable day with their great commitment and expertise. Their voluntary work keeps the history of mining in Kamsdorf alive and makes it accessible to future generations.

The event was a complete success and impressively demonstrated the importance of preserving and communicating regional history.
