Autumn walk around the Walpersberg, 3 November 2019

On Sunday, November 3rd, our association invited to this year’s last tour through the history and nature of the Walpersberg.

We all met in the Kahla City Museum. After an introduction into the prehistory and early history of the mountain, we went on to the modern era, to the “REIMAHG” history on the basis of the exhibition of our association. Impressed by the many original items, models and the explanation by Patrick Brion, many guests were looking forward to the tour. With the best atmosphere, sunshine and enthusiasm we drove to the Walpersberg. Started the climb uphill and walked past all interesting objects, buildings, ruins, quarries and monuments.

The picnic in sunshine, as well as several interesting conversations and autumnal colours were appreciated by everyone. After the descent and a visit to the ruins of the building on Werkstraße, we went to the Linzmühle for coffee. Historical photos and film shots from 1944/45 were passed around, discussed and explained. In the late afternoon we finished this day with a guided tour in the park of Schloss Hummelshain.

The whole hiking group was extremely interested in everything and we received encouraging words for our work, congratulations and hearty hugs for this unforgettable day through a piece of history.

Several of the participants stated that they will support our work in the future.
