It was an eventful year that we look back on as an association. Not always easy, Corona conditioned, but still a lot was done.
The regional, national and international research and archive visits that run throughout the year could be organized and processed without any problems despite specifications. The processing, evaluation and digitization of the received documents is almost complete.
Personal inquiries from abroad could all be answered on the basis of available archive documents. Even if a visit to the REIMAHG exhibition was not always possible, all planned guided tours were carried out to the history around and over the Walpersberg, to the Leubengrund and to Hummelshain. During the subsequent cozy discussions with coffee and cake we let the relaxed day end. Many of the participants are still in contact with us.
Our associations excursions were met with a great response and participation, be it to friendly clubs or places steeped in history. No matter where, there was always a varied, filled daily program, which as always ended in a cozy round with coffee and cake.
On several planned new projects, there have already been working meetings with employees of foreign institutions and authorities as well as associations and foundations. This also included a visit from Castelnovo ne’ Monti/Italy, as part of the town twinning.
New objects, found, donated and purchased, were the focus of the expansion of our collection as well as the newly designed exhibition on the REIMAHG history in the town Museum. Once again, our heartfelt thanks to everyone, especially to Otto our special supporter.
The monthly articles on the general history of the “REIMAHG” have so far received a great deal of resonance with readers. Often we are approached about those and yes, we still have enough topics on this story. The basis of all our articles are only verifiable and verifiable document statements.
We have supported and helped associations and friends with their projects. For this they helped us, so, with the dismantling and construction (after the complete renovation) of a wooden entrance portal of a former sick barrack / castle park Hummelshain. In the future, this portal will present a small exhibition on the history of the Hummelshain Hospital. A special thanks to Mayor Tiesler and the building yard of the municipality, for the good cooperation as well as to all helpers and sponsors.
We were present at various regional events with our association. Many conversations arose on the basis of the small museum exhibition, and our information material, books, films and historical recordings were of great interest to the visitors.
As an alternative to this year’s commemoration in May, which was overshadowed by the Corona problem, we nevertheless found a way of joint remembrance. The website “remember-online.org” was launched on which one could deposit in a small greeting message. These virtual international contributions came from friends, acquaintances, association sympathizers, families, associations, relatives, as well as institutions and authorities of the region and went around the globe. While this virtual commemoration was also a successful alternative, we hope that 2022 will be another year of personal encounters.
We wish all those who know us the best health as well as a quiet and contemplative Advent and Christmas season! May the New Year become something special for you with many positive events, wishes and experiences.
