April 13, 1945 – the day that marked the end of the war for the forced laborers of the “REIMAHG” as well as for the regional population.
2020 was supposed to be a special commemoration year, it was the 75th anniversary of the Liberation. The Corona Pandemic, however, put an end to all official commemorations in advance.
Now, in 2021, we are still living with the guidelines due to the pandemic and this again meant no official commemorations. As a result, the website remember-online.org website project was created. We contacted the few witnesses, veterans, but also families, relatives, institutions, embassies, authorities and friends and asked them to send us their contribution to this website.
Many of them responded to our call, for which we would like to thank us again from the bottom of our hearts!
Supported by our association, the website (remember-online.org) has become a representative document of remembrance. Below are our association contributions:
After two weeks, we can make a first evaluation of the project. The response was great worldwide. The media also reported on the project. A negative aspect of this whole commitment was that this project, conceived as a joint and equal project between the two clubs, has unfortunately only become a one-sided project.
At this point, however, we would like to thank Markus Gleichmann for his personal initiative. He has worked with us to launch this project . Until now, the Großeutersdorf “Geschichts- and Forschungsverein Walpersberg” took virtually no initiative or support. Even its chairwomen probably did not think this initiative was important enough to contribute to the commemoration itself. Really very unfortunate…
If Mr Gleichmann and we should consider yet another joint project that stands to succeed, then we expect that the “Geschichts- and Forschungsverein Walpersberg”/Großeutersdorf has a well-defined, clear and active participation.
The saying goes, hope dies at the end….
